Sudden Inspiration

This morning was like any other morning. I awoke to my dog asking to go outside, the cats have left a mess for me to clean up, and all the while, me trying to get caffeinated before dealing with pressing issues of the day. As I go through my morning, a sudden thought hit, and I find it odd that my mind would shift to a philosophical thought before my first cup of coffee. However, the idea kept nagging at me until I was forced to write it out.

So, while writing, I seem to have a sudden inspiration and started wondering if the inspiration we get is like a compound effect. For example, say we have Hoover Dam, and instead of water, it holds everything we have been taught, either on a particular subject or in general. Eventually, that dam breaks, and everything we learn starts to make sense, connecting the dots that form the whole picture. I submit that sudden inspiration is another form of that dam breaking where everything suddenly makes sense.

There are various explanations for this phenomenon, but the sensation is unlike any I have felt to me. It feels like I am one with the universe, and my abilities are limitless in that briefest of moments. Half of me wonders if this is what it’s like to be a spirit. But, anyway, I digress, the experience was profound this morning, and it prompted me to write this short article. Maybe perhaps because I am a journalism major, or perhaps writing makes me happy. It can be hard to identify sometimes, but sudden inspiration is like releasing a dam full of knowledge and wondering if it was the stuff we already learned or an external force feeding the information into our brains. This is an exciting topic, and I would love to gain other’s perspectives on this subject.

Thank you, everyone,
